Neutralization of Illegal Drones Remotely via Frequency Jamming Technology

As drones become increasingly integrated into various aspects of daily life, there is growing interest in artificial intelligence (AI)-powered anti-drone solutions. While drones have brought convenience to everyday life, they have also raised new security concerns. There have been incidents where drones were caught illegally filming inside high-rise apartment units, and unauthorized drone flights have been detected near nuclear power plants. Anti-drone solutions are integrated security systems that detect drone intrusions in real time and immediately neutralize them. S-1 is recognized as a leading provider of anti-drone solutions for both public and private sector organizations.

On November 2, S-1 announced that demand for anti-drone solutions is rising rapidly. The S-1 anti-drone solution offers illegal intrusion detection and real-time tracking using RF (radio frequency) scanners and radar, flight pattern and shape analysis through AI-powered video analytics, and real-time neutralization of illegal drones using frequency jamming technology.

S-1 Targets Illegal Drones with AI-Powered Solution

First, the S-1 anti-drone solution combines RF scanners and radar to establish an automated surveillance system. Previously, detection relied solely on radar, which resulted in lower accuracy. S-1 has enhanced detection performance by adding RF scanners that capture communication signals between drones and their controllers. When the RF scanner detects a drone intrusion via communication signals, the radar tracks the drone’s location, speed, and direction in real time, enabling a fast and accurate initial response without operator intervention.

S-1 has also implemented cameras with high-magnification optical zoom, capable of clearly capturing small drones several kilometers away, and thermal sensors that detect motor heat, allowing for tracking even at night or in adverse weather conditions. In addition, AI algorithms analyze flight patterns and shapes to automatically distinguish actual drones from aircraft or birds. The S-1 solution also neutralizes illegal drones using frequency jamming technology, disrupting communication between the drone and its controller to either return the drone to its point of origin or force it to land at a safe location. This method allows for remote drone control without the need for on-site intervention.

S-1 explained that, based on its extensive field experience in building and operating security systems for key national facilities, it can design customized anti-drone solutions tailored to the specific characteristics of each site. The market outlook is also positive. According to market research firm Precedence Research, the global anti-drone market is expected to grow more than ninefold, from approximately 1.94 trillion won in 2021 to 17.47 trillion won by 2030.

An S-1 representative stated, "If illegal drones threaten airports, ports, nuclear power plants, and other key infrastructure, it can pose a serious security risk, potentially paralyzing essential public services and critical facilities. By combining our 40 years of expertise in physical security and facility management for both private and public sectors with advanced technologies such as AI, we are committed to ensuring the safety of society as a whole."
