"Kim Dongyeon in the U.S.: Worked Tirelessly as a 'Playmaker' for the Korea-U.S. Alliance"

Kim Dongyeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, who is currently on a business trip to the United States, stated that he will work even harder as a "playmaker" for the Korea-U.S. alliance.


On the 31st, Governor Kim wrote on his social networking service (SNS), "A day in Washington, the heart of American politics, was quite busy for a 'playmaker.'"


He went on to say, "Early in the morning, I met with U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts of the Republican Party," adding, "We discussed various ways to enhance cooperation between Korea and the United States, and in particular, we talked about visa issues."

He especially added, "I requested special attention to the 'Partner with Korea Act,' which is currently pending in the Senate."


He also said, "I met with Jill Homan, Vice President of the America First Policy Institute (AFPI), who is considered one of the policy brains of the Trump administration," and noted, "Through this meeting, I was able to get a sense of the Trump administration's policy directions in trade, commerce, and security."


In addition, Governor Kim said, "I met with various experts on Korea-U.S. relations, including Scott Snyder, President of the Korea Economic Institute (KEI); Thomas Hubbard, former U.S. Ambassador to South Korea and a Korea Peninsula expert; and Jason Jung, Senior Advisor at CSIS and a financial expert from the Trump campaign," expressing his expectation that "as the 'playmaker' continues to work tirelessly, the Korea-U.S. alliance will become even stronger and broader."
