Operating 15 Hotels and Resorts
Aiming to Add 10 More Hotels by 2029
Continued Expansion Across the Asia-Pacific Region
Sono International, a subsidiary of Daemyung Sono Group, announced on October 30 that it has signed an agreement to acquire 100% of the shares in the Thai and Indonesian subsidiaries of Cross Hotels & Resorts, which operates hotels and resorts in the Asia-Pacific region.
As a result, the company will operate a total of 1,507 rooms across 15 hotels and resorts, primarily located in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Pattaya in Thailand, as well as Bali in Indonesia.
Cross Hotels & Resorts owns five brands-Cross, Cross Vibe, Cross Collection, Away, and Lumen-offering a diverse portfolio ranging from urban lifestyle hotels to premium resorts in vacation destinations.
Starting with this acquisition and operation, Sono International plans to further expand by adding 10 more hotels and resorts in Thailand and Indonesia by 2029.
Previously, Sono International began its overseas expansion with the entrusted operation of Sonobel Haiphong in Vietnam in 2019. This was followed by the acquisition of the Normandy Hotel in Washington, DC in 2022, 33 Seaport Hotel New York in 2023, Dame des Arts Hotel in Paris, France, and Waikiki Resort Hotel in Hawaii in 2024.
In March, the company also acquired Guam's leading golf courses, Onward Mangilao Golf Club and Onward Talofofo Golf Club, now operating them as Sono Felice Country Club Guam Mangilao and Sono Felice Country Club Guam Talofofo, respectively, further accelerating its overseas expansion.
A representative from Sono International stated, "The acquisition of Cross Hotels & Resorts will serve as a key platform for creating synergy between air travel and accommodation, particularly in connection with T'way Air's routes to Thailand and Indonesia. Through this, we aim to strengthen our position in Southeast Asia and secure momentum for expanding our business throughout the Asia-Pacific region."
