Shinan County in South Jeolla Province received the Excellent Local Government Award in recognition of its contributions to the stable settlement of multicultural families and the improvement of the quality of life for diverse families.
The county announced that it received this award from the Korea Family Center Association at the 8th Jeonnam Family Center Staff Unity Festival, which was held in Jangseong County on the 30th.
This event, hosted by the Jeonnam Family Center Association, was attended by more than 450 staff members and officials from 22 family centers in the province. It served as a meaningful occasion to share the achievements of family policy initiatives and to strengthen unity among the staff.
Shinan has actively pursued policies to overcome the geographical limitations of being an island region and to enhance the quality of life for not only multicultural families but also single-person households, single-parent families, and grandparent-grandchild families.
In particular, the county received high praise for its specialized programs, including the "Visiting Settlement Program for Marriage Immigrant Women," "Self-Help Group Operations," "Multicultural Family Language Development Support Project," and "Social Network Formation Support Project for Single-Person Households," which contributed to the stable settlement and social integration of vulnerable families.
A county official stated, "This achievement is the result of our collective efforts to create a happy family community for all residents," and added, "We will continue to promote inclusive family policies that respect diversity and ensure that everyone receives care and support without discrimination."
