Moalifeplus announced on the 29th that its health functional food, 'IMMUNE 88 GOLD,' developed in-house, won the Gold Prize (Commissioner of the Intellectual Property Office Award) at the 2025 Korea Food Research Institute Food Technology Awards.

The 'Korea Food Research Institute Food Technology Awards' is an event celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. It was established to discover and honor outstanding products that contribute to the development of the national food industry, thereby spreading technological competitiveness and driving industrial growth. The ceremony is hosted and organized by the Korea Food Research Institute, which comprehensively evaluates companies' R&D achievements, technological competitiveness, and market impact to select the awardees.

This year's Food Technology Awards presented the Minister of Science and ICT Award to 'Kittensial' (LG Household & Health Care) and the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Award to 'Yakult XO' (HY) as the top technology prizes. Gold Prizes were awarded to 'Metagreen Booster Shot 7 Days' (Amorepacific) with the Chairman of the National Research Council of Science & Technology Award, 'IMMUNE 88 GOLD' (Moalifeplus) with the Commissioner of the Intellectual Property Office Award, and 'Richam Omelet Ham' (Dongwon F&B) with the President of the Korea Food Research Institute Award. In addition, a total of 11 companies received honors, including silver, bronze, special, technology innovation, and encouragement awards.

The main ingredient of 'IMMUNE 88 GOLD,' which won this year's Gold Prize (Commissioner of the Intellectual Property Office Award), is poly-gamma-glutamic acid potassium (PGA-K). In a human application trial (8 weeks of intake), PGA-K was proven to increase the activity of natural killer (NK) cells, which play a key role in immune enhancement, by 52.3%. It has also been approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety as an individually recognized functional ingredient for 'immune function enhancement.'

Moalifeplus's PGA-K is an immune-activating functional substance developed based on the company's proprietary global technology. It has received 'New Dietary Ingredient (NDI)' approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This achievement is regarded as evidence of global competitiveness in the immune bioindustry based on natural fermented foods, going beyond merely being a functional ingredient.

A Moalifeplus representative stated, "As a research-driven company, we will continue to explore the various benefits of PGA-K and further strengthen the scientific credibility and technological edge necessary to lead not only the health functional food sector but also the future pharmaceutical, bio, and beauty industries."
