This Japan Market Development Team included 10 export-oriented small and medium-sized enterprises from Hanam City, seeking opportunities to enter the Japanese market. In cooperation with the Gyeonggi Business & Science Accelerator, the companies held one-on-one export consultations and business meetings with local buyers in Tokyo, laying the groundwork for expanding exports.
The companies that participated in the consultations introduced the competitiveness of their products through direct meetings with Japanese buyers, clarified future possibilities for cooperation, and are looking forward to positive follow-up discussions.
In particular, a total of 87 consultations were held at this event, resulting in export negotiations worth 6,443,500 dollars, with 82 contracts (worth 2,341,750 dollars) expected to be pursued.
The city explained, "These results are as of now, and further achievements are expected if additional contracts are concluded in the future."
In addition, the participating companies conducted on-site market research on major commercial districts and distribution channels in Tokyo, analyzing consumer trends and the distribution structure. Through this, they secured foundational data necessary to establish strategies for Hanam companies to enter the Japanese market.
Mayor Lee Hyunjae stated, "The dispatch of this Japan Market Development Team is a practical example of strengthening the global competitiveness of local small and medium-sized enterprises and expanding the export base," adding, "We will continue to expand market development teams to various countries such as ASEAN and the Americas to consistently support local companies in entering overseas markets."
Meanwhile, Hanam City expects to achieve contract results worth 8,132,000 dollars through the Southeast Asia Market Development Team in the first half of this year, and, including the results from the Japan Market Development Team, anticipates a total contract performance of 10,473,000 dollars in 2025.
