Rising Expectations for Innocean’s Next Chapter
Innocean, an affiliate of Hyundai Motor Group, announced on October 29 that Jungah Kim, the current Chief Creative Officer (CCO) and Executive Vice President, will be appointed as the new CEO and President effective November 1.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Innocean’s founding, and the company is ushering in a new era with a female CEO who has a background as a practicing advertising professional. An Innocean representative stated, “Executive Vice President Kim has been a key player at the forefront of Innocean’s growth for over 20 years,” adding, “She possesses the leadership to prepare for Innocean’s Chapter 2, rooted in creativity.”
Kim, the newly appointed CEO, joined Innocean in 2006 and was promoted to Managing Director in 2014, Senior Managing Director in 2020, and Executive Vice President in 2023, reaching the top executive position just two years later.
Kim holds a bachelor’s degree in Korean Language and Literature from Ewha Womans University and a master’s degree in Advertising and Public Relations from Yonsei University. Since entering the advertising industry in 1996, she has spent more than 30 years planning and overseeing brand campaigns for leading domestic and global companies, including Hyundai Motor Group, Google Korea, and Domino’s Pizza.
She has created numerous acclaimed campaigns, winning over 300 international advertising awards, and has elevated Innocean’s creative competitiveness to a world-class level. Kim has also served multiple times as a judge at the world’s most prestigious international advertising festivals, such as Cannes Lions, New York Festivals, and Clio Awards, contributing to raising the profile of Korea’s advertising industry.
In both 2020 and 2021, she was named Korea’s No. 1 Creative Director by the global advertising magazine Campaign Brief Asia for two consecutive years. In 2023, she was the only individual to receive the main award in the Industry Leader category at the AdAsia CMG Awards, which honors communication leaders who have changed the world with innovative ideas.
Her representative works include the 2013 Hyundai Sonata commercial, which did not feature a car in the video, and the “Night Fishing” campaign, which pioneered paid screenings in theaters and was highly acclaimed, winning the Grand Prix-the highest honor-at this year’s Cannes Lions, the world’s largest and most prestigious advertising festival.
Kim stated, “Based on the essence of creativity, I will devote all my efforts to continuously creating new businesses beyond the realm of advertising, enabling Innocean to become a leading marketing company.” She added, “We plan to further advance our business portfolio and diversify our client base by expanding our global business scope and strengthening our digital content capabilities.”
