A Space to Learn How to Practice Carbon Neutrality
Seongbuk District in Seoul (District Mayor Lee Seungro) has finalized the name of its ‘Carbon Neutral Environmental Education Center’ as ‘Seongbuk Carbon Neutral Learning Center’ and will officially open it on November 18.
The Seongbuk Carbon Neutral Learning Center is located on the second floor at 56, Jeongneung-ro 23-gil, Seongbuk District (121.3㎡). Alongside the opening ceremony, a festival titled ‘A Day to Care for the Earth’-an event free of disposables and waste-will be held. The festival will take place at the Jeongneung Market Community Participation Square and will be divided into four zones: Reducing Carbon, Caring for Objects, Living with Nature, and Looking After the Mind. It will feature resident-participation programs such as a shared wardrobe and a moss garden exploration.
The name ‘Seongbuk Carbon Neutral Learning Center’ was selected through a public contest, survey, and internal review conducted until the 13th, reflecting the center’s identity as a hub for environmental conservation and achieving carbon neutrality. A total of 113 name suggestions were submitted for the contest.
Lee Seungro, Mayor of Seongbuk District, stated, “The Seongbuk Carbon Neutral Learning Center will faithfully serve as a hub for environmental education and will become a space where anyone can easily and enjoyably learn how to practice carbon neutrality.”
