Excellence Recognized in Mosquito Vector Control Efforts
Sacheon City in South Gyeongsang Province announced on the 29th that it was selected as an excellent institution in the "2025 Infectious Disease Prevention Evaluation" organized by Gyeongnam Province and received the institutional award from the Governor of Gyeongnam Province.
This award is the result of high recognition for various efforts made to prevent infectious diseases and curb their spread through mosquito vector control work, as well as to protect the daily safety of citizens.
The city organized 15 pest control and disinfection teams to prevent mosquito-borne infectious diseases such as Japanese encephalitis and dengue fever, and implemented eco-friendly control measures based on the ecology of mosquitoes by environment and season.

In addition, the city operated a one-stop pest control civil complaint reporting center utilizing a geographic information system (GIS), allowing citizens to conveniently submit their reports and requests.
Furthermore, the city ran "customized infectious disease integrated education for all life stages," enabling all generations from children to the elderly to participate in infectious disease prevention.
In particular, the city continued to provide tailored education and campaigns at community-centered locations such as schools, senior centers, and welfare centers, and received positive evaluations for actively promoting projects suited to local characteristics.
Mayor Park Dongsik stated, "This award is the result of the joint efforts of public health center staff and the local community," adding, "We will continue to do our best to protect the health and safety of our citizens through proactive quarantine measures and infectious disease prevention projects."
