The Presidential Office will present a "Gyeongju Gold Crown" to U.S. President Donald Trump as a gift on October 29. This gesture is interpreted as being mindful of President Trump's well-known fondness for gold.
According to the Presidential Office, President Lee will present President Trump with a model inspired by the Gyeongju Gold Crown during a social event following the Korea-U.S. summit. The Presidential Office also plans to give customized gifts to each head of state attending the 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit.
President Trump is widely known for his preference for gold. In addition to the gold crown, he is also expected to receive the Grand Order of Mugunghwa.
Meanwhile, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi personally presented President Trump with a "golden golf ball" crafted using Kanazawa's gold leaf technique from Ishikawa Prefecture.
