International Conferences and Academic Forums Held Until October 31
Exploring the Present and Future of Road Technology
The "2025 Goyang Asia-Pacific Road Conference," which aims to strengthen road technology cooperation between Asia and Oceania and share global research achievements in the road sector, kicked off on October 28 at the 2nd Exhibition Hall of KINTEX in Goyang.

Jointly hosted by Goyang Special City and Korea Expressway Corporation, and organized by the Korea Road Association, the "2025 Goyang Asia-Pacific Road Conference" is held under the theme "Future Road; Hyper-connection." The event provides a platform to discuss current issues in road technology and various topics facing the future of roads. It includes international conferences and academic forums.
The conference, which began with the PIARC National Committee Meeting on October 26, will run for a total of six days until October 31.
At the opening ceremony held on October 28, the event began with an opening declaration by Kim Seonghwan, President of the Road Engineering Association of Asia and Australasia (REAAA), followed by a welcoming speech from Ham Jingyu, President of Korea Expressway Corporation, and a greeting from Lee Donghwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City, who is also the co-chair of the organizing committee. Road and transportation experts from around the world gathered to officially celebrate the opening of the road conference.
In his welcoming remarks, Lee Donghwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City, stated, "Goyang Special City has strengthened its capacity as a global city by successfully hosting various international events. I hope this conference will be an opportunity to share innovative ideas in road and transportation technology and to solidify cooperation between countries. I also wish for this road conference to become a driving force that changes the future of cities not only in Asia and Oceania but around the world."

Meanwhile, the "2025 Goyang Asia-Pacific Road Conference" is particularly significant as it is the first international road event to be held in Korea in about a decade since the World Road Congress in Seoul in 2015. The event features conferences and annual meetings with participation from leading international organizations in the road and transportation sector, such as the Road Engineering Association of Asia and Australasia (REAAA) and the World Road Association (PIARC). In addition, the "2025 International Road & Traffic Expo (RETREX)," the largest exhibition in Korea's road and transportation sector, will be held concurrently.
