National Hangeul Museum Successfully Concludes International Museum Forum: "Aging Society, Connection Between Scripts and Generations"

The National Hangeul Museum, under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, announced on the 28th that it successfully hosted the "3rd International Museum Forum" on the 14th at the International Conference Hall on the 20th floor of the Korea Press Center, under the theme "Aging Society, Connection Between Scripts and Generations."

On the 14th, the 3rd International Museum Forum was held at the International Conference Hall on the 20th floor of the Korea Press Center, under the theme "Aging Society, Connection Between Characters and Generations." Provided by the National Hangeul Museum.

The forum featured keynote speeches by Jang Inkyung, Vice President of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), and Choi Jaeboong, Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Sungkyunkwan University. In addition, in-depth lectures were delivered by experts in linguistics, education, museology, and medicine from Korea, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Finland, Japan, and the United States.

A total of 11 domestic and international speakers participated, including: Kim Cheoljung, medical journalist at The Chosun Ilbo; Bruno Soares, Chair of the ICOM International Committee for the Collections and Activities of Museums of Cities; Heo Jun, Professor at Yeungnam University; Ed Watts, Team Leader at the Whitworth Art Gallery in the United Kingdom; Evelyn Tan, Senior Manager at Science Centre Singapore; Lila Heinola, Educator at the Tampere Historical Museum in Finland; Yokohama Yoko, Researcher at Tokyo University of the Arts; Francesca Rosenberg, Director at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, USA; Seo Younga, Director of the National Literacy Education Center; Kim Hyanghee, Professor at Yonsei University; and Dafna Zur, Professor at Stanford University. Each presented on the topic of aging from their respective fields. The event concluded with a Q&A session with attendees.

Kang Jeongwon, Director of the National Hangeul Museum, stated, "The topic of aging has already become a significant issue in our society, and it was an opportunity to confirm the strong interest of many museum professionals," adding, "We will continue to provide a platform through the forum to discuss the challenges and solutions faced by museums worldwide."
