October 31 to November 30
"Gwanghwamun Museum Run" Event
Run Using the "Runday" App for a Chance to Win Prizes
The National Museum of Korean Contemporary History announced that it will co-host the promotional event "Gwanghwamun Museum Run" together with eight major national and public cultural institutions in the Gwanghwamun area-including the National Palace Museum of Korea, National Folk Museum of Korea, National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul Museum of Craft Art, Seoul Museum of Art, Seoul Museum of History, and Sejong Center-from October 31 to November 30. Last year, the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History formed the "Gwanghwamun Cultural Institutions Promotion Council" to promote joint publicity projects among the eight institutions, and this event marks their second collaborative initiative.
The "Gwanghwamun Museum Run" is a participatory running event where participants run along routes shaped like cute animals around the cultural institutions in the Gwanghwamun area. The event aims to reflect the growing running culture and to make the cultural institutions in the Gwanghwamun area more approachable. Route 1 and Route 2 are actual running courses connecting the eight institutions in the Gwanghwamun area, centered around Gyeongbokgung Palace and Deoksugung Palace, and are characterized by dog and rabbit shapes, respectively. Route 3 is an online participation route that utilizes the "Runday" app, allowing participants to run or walk for eight minutes in the area, and can be easily enjoyed anywhere in Korea or abroad.
The event is being held in collaboration with the running platform "Runday," which has over 480,000 monthly users. Citizens who wish to participate can easily apply by accessing the "Gwanghwamun Cultural Institutions Integrated Digital Leaflet" and connecting to the "Runday" platform. Finishers will be entered into a drawing to receive caf? beverage coupons within the institutions, and participants can apply once per route. Those who complete all three routes will have up to three chances to win and can also enter for special commemorative gifts. In addition, during the event period, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art will provide paid admission tickets to the Seoul branch to the first 30 finishers each day, and the Seoul Museum of Craft Art will offer commemorative gifts (tarpaulin bags) at the information desk every Friday.
Han Soo, Director of the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History, stated, "'Gwanghwamun Museum Run' is an event where people can enjoy running on a refreshing autumn day while naturally experiencing the diverse cultural institutions in the Gwanghwamun area. We will continue to work with these cultural institutions to widely promote the appeal of the Gwanghwamun cultural district and expand opportunities for the public to enjoy culture in their daily lives."
