Dong-A University is signing a memorandum of understanding with Saha District Office in Busan to foster software talent and address local issues.
The signing ceremony, held on the 27th in the main conference room of the university headquarters, was attended by President Lee Haewoo, Saha District Mayor Lee Gapjun, Dean of the College of Software Lee Seokhwan, Associate Dean of the College of Software Jeon Dongsan, Director of Planning at Saha District Office Lee Haekyung, and Head of Work Innovation at Saha District Office Lee Sooyoung.
Through this agreement, the two institutions have agreed to closely collaborate in various areas, including: fostering talent and strengthening and expanding SW education capabilities; jointly developing technologies to address local issues; sharing information and resources; demonstrating and utilizing developed prototypes; and managing intellectual property and research outcomes.
With this agreement, Dong-A University and the Saha District Office will jointly carry out undergraduate field-based mirror projects and collaborative R&D projects, with the expectation that SW development projects involving students will directly contribute to solving real problems in the local community.
In particular, software and systems developed by Dong-A University students will be directly applied to the administrative services of the Saha District Office and to resolving local issues, laying the foundation for meaningful contributions to the community.
President Lee Haewoo stated, "This agreement marks an important starting point for the university and local government to jointly address community issues and to establish a sustainable foundation for regional innovation where young people can stay and grow," adding, "We expect to achieve tangible results in youth job creation, digital transformation, and projects aimed at solving social problems."
Saha District Mayor Lee Gapjun commented, "It is very meaningful to collaborate with Dong-A University, the most prestigious private university in the southern region and a source of pride for our residents. As software will be a key driver of future development, we will strive to ensure that local businesses and administration can grow together through talent development and technology advancement."
Dong-A University is currently implementing the 'SW-centered University Project', supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP), to strengthen its software education and research capabilities in connection with the local community.
