Selected for Korea Forest Welfare Institute Project
Secures 300 Million Won in National Funding

The Icheon city government announced that it has secured 300 million won in national funding by being selected for the "2026 Green Fund Public Project" organized by the Korea Forest Welfare Institute. This project aims to protect the forest environment and enhance forest functions, using lottery proceeds and other sources as financial resources.
In addition to the national funding secured through the selection, the city will invest an additional 300 million won from its own budget to implement the "Barrier-Free Urban Forest Welfare Project" at Oncheon Park.
The project site covers an area of 12,000 square meters around 503 Changjeon-dong. The city plans to minimize forest damage and disaster risks, and to transform the existing park into a barrier-free urban forest welfare space by removing obstacles to walking and upgrading facilities for people with disabilities, the elderly, and other individuals with mobility difficulties. To achieve this, the city will renovate rest areas for people with disabilities, improve parking lots and restrooms, and install braille blocks and informational signs.
Previously, in 2024, Oncheon Park was also selected for a public project to create a barrier-free sharing path.
Kim Gyeonghee, Mayor of Icheon, stated, "Through this project, we will create an urban forest where all citizens can enjoy a safe and pleasant environment."
