Sacheon City Issues Warning Over Voice Phishing by Impersonators of Public Officials!

Never Transfer Money Upon Receiving Suspicious Calls or Messages
Report Immediately to City Hall or the Police

Cases of voice phishing involving individuals impersonating public officials have been occurring one after another in the Sacheon area of South Gyeongsang Province, prompting the city government to urge citizens to exercise heightened caution.

According to Sacheon City, there was an incident in which someone impersonating a public official attempted to enter into a goods contract by forging official documents.

Even after this incident, another impersonator approached suppliers by phone, demanding that related materials be delivered in advance before any contract was formally signed.

In particular, on the 23rd, there was an attempt to impersonate an employee of the Sacheon City Hall Urban Affairs Division, claiming to be conducting a support project for small business owners and trying to arrange meetings with suppliers.

A Sacheon City official emphasized, "Text messages or phone calls impersonating public officials are often very cleverly crafted. Even if you receive a business card image or a message in the form of an official document, do not trust it blindly. Always verify directly with City Hall or the relevant department."

Meanwhile, Sacheon City plans to continue strengthening voice phishing prevention campaigns in cooperation with the police and financial institutions and to expand education and campaigns targeting citizens.

Additionally, the city urges that if you receive any suspicious calls or messages, you should never transfer money and should immediately report the incident to City Hall or the police.
