To Be Held January 16-18 Next Year
at Sangnim Park and Surrounding Areas
Hamyang County in South Gyeongsang Province and the Hamyang Gojongsi Gotgam Festival Committee announced on October 28 that they have officially begun preparations for the upcoming winter’s signature event, the Hamyang Gojongsi Gotgam Festival.
On this day, 15 members of the festival committee, including Chairman Park Hyogi, gathered at the Agricultural Technology Center to discuss the 10th Hamyang Gojongsi Gotgam Festival.
During the meeting, the festival schedule and venue were confirmed, and there was an in-depth discussion on various operational plans to ensure the festival’s success.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the Hamyang Gojongsi Gotgam Festival will be held for three days from January 16 to 18, 2026, at Gowoon Square in Sangnim Park. During the festival, a variety of attractions and activities will be offered, including the sale of Hamyang Gojongsi Gotgam and other local agricultural specialties, hands-on experiences, and various performances.
Chairman Park Hyogi stated, "We will do our utmost to promote the excellence of Hamyang Gojongsi Gotgam and prepare a wide range of programs that local residents can enjoy together, so that the Hamyang Gojongsi Gotgam Festival can firmly establish itself as Hamyang’s representative winter festival."
Hamyang Gojongsi Gotgam is so renowned for its outstanding quality that Emperor Gojong himself was said to be so impressed that he named it "Gojongsi." Each year, more than 700 farms in Hamyang carefully peel persimmons from November and dry them in the clean winds of Jirisan and Deogyusan mountains, resulting in a soft texture and high sugar content. Thanks to these qualities, Hamyang Gojongsi Gotgam is a beloved winter snack.
