Leaps 254 Spots in World Rankings with Ranking Points
Scheffler No. 1, McIlroy No. 2, Im Sungjae at 36th
Lee Junghwan, the winner of the Genesis Championship, has climbed to 197th in the world rankings.
In the men's weekly world golf rankings announced on the 27th (local time), he earned 0.76 points, soaring 254 spots from 451st last week. This marks his personal best world ranking. He accumulated ranking points by winning the Genesis Championship, which was co-hosted last week by the Korea Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) Tour and the DP World Tour.
Lee Junghwan secured his third career KPGA Tour victory, his first in seven years since the Golfzon·DYB Education Tour Championship in November 2018. The winner's prize is 680,000 US dollars (approximately 980 million Korean won). With this victory, he also earned a two-year exemption on the DP World Tour and received a Genesis GV80 vehicle as an additional prize.
There were no changes at the top of the world rankings. Scottie Scheffler (United States), Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland), and Xander Schauffele (United States) maintained the top three positions. Among Korean players, Im Sungjae is ranked 36th, Kim Siwoo 64th, An Byeonghun 78th, and Kim Joo-hyung 88th. Michael Brennan (United States), the champion of the Bank of Utah Championship in the PGA Tour Fall Series, jumped from 111th to 43rd place last week.
