"Amazon to Cut Up to 30,000 Headquarters Jobs" ... Largest Layoff Since 2022

Amazon, the U.S. e-commerce giant, is planning to lay off up to 30,000 employees at its headquarters, Reuters reported on the 27th (local time).


Reuters cited three sources familiar with Amazon's internal affairs for this information.

This round of layoffs targets nearly 10% of Amazon's total headquarters workforce of approximately 350,000 employees, making it the largest since the company let go of about 27,000 employees starting at the end of 2022. According to the sources, the layoffs, which will begin this week, could affect a range of departments, including human resources, devices and services, and operations.


An Amazon spokesperson declined to comment on the matter.


On this day, Amazon's stock closed at $226.93, up 1.23% from the previous trading session. Amazon is scheduled to announce its third-quarter earnings on the 30th.
