Connecting with the Community in Autumn Atmosphere... Hanul Nuclear Power Headquarters Successfully Concludes 'Sanggo Cultural Festival: Autumn Edition'

Writing Contest, Board Game Competition, and Halloween Events
A Cultural Festival for the Whole Family to Enjoy Together

The Hanul Nuclear Power Headquarters of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (headed by Lee Seyong) successfully concluded the "2nd Hanul Sanggo Cultural Festival: Autumn Edition" on October 25, with over 1,000 local residents participating.

The Sanggo Cultural Festival, which means "Always (Sang), Think (Go)," was designed to help children develop their ability to think and express themselves independently. Following the spring edition held in May, this was the second installment of the festival.

The main program of the event, the writing contest, was held under the theme "The Future of Uljin as Envisioned by Children," with more than 100 elementary school students participating. Sixteen works will be awarded after a review process, and a collection of the submitted works will be compiled and distributed.

In addition, a board game competition open to both children and adults featured Rummikub and Jenga matches. The event also offered five types of traditional folk game experiences, busking performances, sand art, balloon art, food trucks, and a variety of other activities and food options, making the festival even more vibrant.

Furthermore, more than 300 visitors participated in the "Yellow Card" donation campaign to prevent traffic accidents involving children. Participants made their own safety keyrings featuring "Hanuri," the Hanul Headquarters mascot, reinforcing the importance of traffic safety and promoting a culture of giving.

At the Hanul Energy Farm outdoor park, a range of ESG Halloween events drew attention, including mime performances and photo events featuring actors dressed as mummies, witches, and other characters, as well as photo zones. Children in costumes enjoyed making pumpkin lanterns and masks, and participated in various mission-based activities, having a great time.

One visitor commented, "It was satisfying to enjoy a variety of programs with my family without having to travel to a distant city over the weekend. Experiencing Halloween in Uljin, which we never imagined, made both children and parents truly happy. I hope we can participate again next year."

A child participant shared, "I wore my cherished princess dress, took photos with a beautiful witch, and even rode a hobby horse led by a skeleton. It was amazing and so much fun. I want to come again next time."

Director Lee Seyong said, "I am delighted that the writing contest, which allows children to fully express their thoughts and creativity, was a success. Seeing more children than expected immerse themselves in the festival until late in the evening was very gratifying. To meet the expectations of local residents, we will prepare even better programs next year and actively seek out cultural content that is not easily accessible to children in Uljin."
