This on-site inspection was organized to directly check the status of major public investment projects closely related to citizens' daily lives and to review future management and support measures for each stage of the projects.

On this day, Mayor Lee Sangho closely examined the interior finishing status, equipment processes, and safety management of the public postpartum care center, and received reports from officials on the progress of the project.

Until now, Taebaek did not have a postpartum care center, causing significant inconvenience for mothers who had to travel to other regions after childbirth. The establishment of this public postpartum care center is expected to be the first step toward making Taebaek a city that is friendly to childbirth and parenting, and to serve as key infrastructure for improving the quality of life for citizens.

The Taebaek City Public Postpartum Care Center is being built as a public facility with a total project cost of 6 billion won, featuring 10 rooms for mothers, a newborn room, and a program room. After completion in December 2025, the facility will undergo removal of hazardous substances and a pilot operation, and will officially open in March 2026.

The basic two-week usage fee is 1.8 million won. Mothers or spouses who have been registered residents of Taebaek City for more than six months will receive a 90% discount, reducing the daily fee to about 13,000 won. After the selection of a private operator at the end of the year, detailed operational plans will also be finalized.

In addition, an integrated public rental housing complex for young people and newlyweds (with a capacity of 100 households) will be built in the Seohakgol area along with the public postpartum care center, transforming the area into a new living zone that connects housing, welfare, and healthcare.

The 'Integrated Public Rental Housing Construction Project' is being pursued with a total budget of 36.8 billion won, with the goal of obtaining project plan approval in September 2025, signing a construction contract and starting construction within the same year, and completing the project in the first half of 2027.

The city plans to use these two projects to develop Seohakgol as a residential area where young people settle and families can live with peace of mind, aiming to make this a turning point for regional population recovery and revitalization of the city.

Mayor Lee Sangho stated, "The Seohakgol public investment projects are an important starting point for reshaping the urban structure of Taebaek. We will ensure that each public facility brings tangible changes for citizens by focusing on field-oriented administration and meticulous management."
