Alumni of Soonchunhyang University College of Medicine have donated 300 million won as a construction fund to improve the educational and research environment of their alma mater's medical school.

The alumni association aims to raise a total of 1 billion won by next year through a comprehensive fundraising campaign involving all graduates.

Soonchunhyang University announced on the 27th that the College of Medicine Alumni Association, led by President Kim Daeik, has delivered the first fundraising installment of 300 million won to support the new construction and expansion project of the medical school.

According to the university, in June, Dean Paek Mujun of the College of Medicine met with President Kim Daeik and alumni association executives to share the necessity and vision for the expansion project, and requested their participation in the donation campaign.

In response, the alumni association launched the "All-Alumni Donation Campaign," where each graduate contributes 1 million won, with the goal of raising 1 billion won by next year.

Notably, President Kim Daeik personally made an advance donation of 100 million won, serving as a catalyst for the campaign. This initiative has encouraged participation from each graduating class, resulting in a total of 300 million won raised so far.

The donation ceremony was attended by Seo Kyoil, Chairman of the Dong-eun Foundation, Seo Yoosung, Vice President for Medical Affairs, Dean Paek Mujun, and hospital directors Lee Jeongjae, Lee Moonsu, and Min Kyungdae, who all expressed their gratitude for the meaningful support from the alumni.

Dean Paek Mujun stated, "This fund is the result of the love and community spirit of Soonchunhyang medical alumni," adding, "The new construction and expansion of the medical school marks a hopeful starting point for Soonchunhyang's next 100 years."

President Kim Daeik also said, "For the past 50 years, Soonchunhyang Medical School has been a cradle of medical advancement," and emphasized, "We have gathered the hearts of our alumni so that future generations can learn in a better environment."

Meanwhile, the College of Medicine Alumni Association Scholarship Foundation is also supporting the next generation by providing scholarships totaling 120 million won to 240 current students and supplying laboratory coats for practical training.
