Jiho Park Appointed as Public Conflict Mediation Administrator
Received Top Score Unanimously in Interview Process
The Presidential Office has appointed Joo Jinwoo, former Seoul City Policy Advisor, as Secretary for Public Conflict Mediation, and Jiho Park as Public Conflict Mediation Administrator.
Jeon Seonghwan, Senior Secretary for Listening and Integration, announced at a briefing at the Yongsan Presidential Office on October 27 that these appointments were made through an open recruitment process. This marks the first time that a secretary-level official has been selected through open recruitment.
The newly appointed secretary and administrator will be responsible for designing the government's conflict management policies in cooperation with relevant ministries, monitoring situations involving conflicts of interest, and carrying out listening and mediation work based on their field experience. Both individuals reportedly received the highest scores from the interview panel, with unanimous agreement among the judges.
Senior Secretary Jeon introduced Secretary Joo as "someone who has served as a policy advisor to the Seoul Metropolitan Government and as president of the Seoul Social Service Agency," adding, "During his time as policy advisor, he contributed to resolving labor-management negotiations ahead of a planned Seoul subway strike. He is known for his humble and gentle personality and has a diverse background in both public and private sectors."
Regarding Administrator Park, he explained, "He is a field expert who has worked for over 12 years in various conflict situations, ranging from mediating apartment and neighborhood disputes to addressing local government issues and national policy agendas."
Previously, the Presidential Office announced an open call for applications for the positions of Secretary and Administrator for Public Conflict Mediation, accepting applications for six days from August 29 to September 3, and hiring the final candidates through document screening and interviews.
