Case Transferred to Special Prosecutor After Police Report for "Inciting and Propagating Insurrection"
Former Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn attended as a member of former President Yoon Seok-yeol's legal team at the seventh hearing of the impeachment trial of former President Yoon Seok-yeol held on February 11 at the Constitutional Court in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
Special Prosecutor Cho Eunseok's team has launched a compulsory investigation into former Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn.
On the morning of the 27th, the special prosecutor's team is conducting a search and seizure at Hwang's residence. The team initiated the search and seizure in connection with a case that was transferred to them after Hwang was reported to the police on charges of inciting and propagating insurrection.
Previously, the civic group Candlelight Victory Transition Action (Candlelight Action) filed a police report against Hwang in March, accusing him of propagating insurrection. The group claimed that, ahead of the verdict on former President Yoon Seok-yeol's impeachment trial, threats and incitement to riot by insurrectionist forces targeting the Constitutional Court had reached a serious level.
