The Daejeon city government has officially finalized and announced the names of 45 tram stations on Urban Railway Line 2, which is scheduled to open in 2028, in order to manage the urban railway facilities efficiently and systematically.

In March of this year, Daejeon City established naming criteria in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, received preliminary advice from experts, and collected opinions from approximately 960 citizens and related organizations both online and offline in April.

Subsequently, in May, a policy coordination meeting was held between the city and district governments, followed by deliberations by the naming committees of the five autonomous districts in June. In July, the city council's opinions were heard, and from August to October, the city naming committee conducted two rounds of in-depth reviews before finalizing the names. The finalized names were then reviewed for public terminology translation by the National Institute of Korean Language before the official announcement.

Choi Jongsoo, Director of the Urban Railway Construction Bureau of Daejeon City, stated, "The official announcement of the station names ensures consistency across the tram stations and is expected to raise public awareness among citizens prior to the opening."

Meanwhile, the construction of Daejeon Urban Railway Line 2, a circular tram line connecting five districts, includes a total length of 38.8 kilometers, 45 stations, and one train depot. The station construction is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2026, with the goal of completing the project and opening the line in December 2028.
