The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the morning of October 27 that it will hold the "Youth Policy Communication Meeting: Embracing Ideas, Becoming Youth Policy" at the auditorium of Building 15, Government Complex Sejong.
This event has been organized to look at the ministry’s policies from the perspective of young people and to incorporate their experiences and ideas into policy. Hwee-Young Choi, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, will attend the meeting in person to listen to the voices of the youth.
To institutionalize youth participation in policy, the ministry selected the "2nd 2030 Advisory Group" in January, which consists of three subcommittees: culture and arts, content, and tourism and sports. The advisory group, in collaboration with ministry staff, formed the "Youth Participation Council." Based on feedback from the field, the council discussed policy agendas proposed directly by young people in each sector and identified the "eight key initiatives."

The eight key initiatives, which will be unveiled at this meeting, are as follows: ▲ Launching new cultural and arts education programs for the middle-aged to promote community arts; ▲ Establishing a public-private partnership (governance) system to realize customized welfare for artists based on local needs; ▲ Improving talent development programs to enhance the effectiveness of content education; ▲ Supporting independent broadcast and video production companies in their efforts to expand globally; ▲ Promoting regional tourism to prevent the decline of local populations; ▲ Attracting special-purpose tourists and revitalizing regional tourism through industrial tourism; ▲ Establishing a comprehensive support system for customized welfare and career development for athletes; and ▲ Improving the quality of uniforms for international sports competitions. The ministry plans to actively incorporate these initiatives into next year’s work plans.
This meeting will also feature the announcement of a policy proposal by a youth intern from the ministry aimed at strengthening the creative ecosystem for young visual artists outside the capital region. In addition, the "Youth Intern Experience" will be introduced, sharing the intern’s experience at the ministry, and there will be a discussion on how the youth generation perceives the policy process.
Kim Dongmin and Park Sunghwan, youth policy aides at the ministry, stated, "We hope that policies created together with young people will continue to be reflected in the ministry’s policy process, and that youth participation and voices will be consistently heard going forward."
Minister Hwee-Young Choi commented, "This meeting is a meaningful process in which young people have participated as 'policy designers,' going beyond being mere beneficiaries of policy," adding, "We will continue to actively communicate to ensure that the diverse perspectives of youth are reflected throughout all ministry policies."
Meanwhile, the ministry plans to hold the "2025 3rd Youth Culture Forum" at the National Asia Culture Center on November 1. Further details about this event will be available later on the ministry’s official website.
