"Burevestnik" Significant Test Completed
On October 26 (local time), Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that a significant test of the new Burevestnik, a nuclear-powered and nuclear-armed long-range cruise missile, had been completed.
According to RIA Novosti, President Putin, dressed in military uniform, stated during a meeting with military commanders, "There is still much work to be done before the missile is deployed for combat missions, but the key objectives have been achieved."
Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, reported to President Putin that a successful test launch of the Burevestnik had been conducted on October 21. He explained, "All necessary vertical and horizontal maneuvers were completed during the missile's flight, demonstrating its high performance in evading missile defense and air defense systems." He also stated that the missile is capable of flying at least 14,000 kilometers.
President Putin further emphasized that while the main objectives of the Burevestnik test had been achieved, there remains a substantial process before it can be deployed in actual combat. He said, "We need to identify possible ways to utilize such weapons and prepare the necessary infrastructure to deploy them within our military."
