20 Years of Promoting the Values of Harmony and Coexistence
Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province announced the grand opening of the '20th Cultural Diversity Festival MAMF (Migrant World Culture Festival) 2025' at the main stage of Yongji Cultural Park.
The opening ceremony, held on October 24 to mark the festival's 20th anniversary this year, was attended by Jang Geum-yong, Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City; Park Wansu, Governor of South Gyeongsang Province; Lee Jeongmi, Director of Cultural Policy at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Suhee Sukhbold, Mongolian Ambassador to South Korea, along with the Mongolian cultural exchange delegation; the MAMF2025 Organizing Committee; provincial and city council members; and numerous local and international residents.
The ceremony began with a beautiful harmony performed by 'Modu,' the Changwon Multicultural Children's Choir, followed by congratulatory speeches, an opening performance, and a celebratory show in sequence.
During the opening performance, migrants participated together to deliver the message of 'a festival for everyone' and to highlight the value of cultural diversity. The subsequent celebratory show featured a vibrant and passionate lineup, including musical actor Kang Hongseok, the Mongolian Morin Khuur Orchestra, the traditional performing arts group Kkokdusoe, and the Lee Seunghwan Band, filling the first night of the festival with excitement and inspiration.
In his congratulatory remarks, Jang Geum-yong, Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City, stated, "MAMF is more than just a festival-it is an open platform and a venue for harmony where diverse cultures come together as one. We will continue to provide unwavering support and efforts so that MAMF can establish itself as a leading global festival that widely promotes the values of harmony and coexistence."
