"I Hope the Two Gogum-myeon Candidates Will Unite"
Shin Younggyun, former Director of Economic and Industrial Affairs of Wando County, announced on the 25th that he will not run for Wando County Governor in the local elections scheduled for June next year.
On this day, he stated, "After much deliberation, I have decided not to run," and added, "I hope that the two remaining candidates will quickly unite for the development of Gogum-myeon."

It is known that Shin's decision not to run is related to recent unfavorable poll results. Currently, there are eight candidates who have announced their intention to run for Wando County Governor, including Shin. Among them, Woo Hongseop and Kim Seguk, both from Gogum-myeon, are also competing.
Shin explained, "The fact that there are many candidates from Gogum-myeon means that the area has abundant human resources, but at the same time, votes are dispersed, making it difficult to realize the long-held wish of Gogum-myeon residents to have a county governor from their hometown."
He further emphasized, "The residents of Gogum-myeon are desperate to elect a county governor from their region in this election," and added, "Candidates from Gogum-myeon have a responsibility that goes beyond personal interests, for the development of both Gogum-myeon and Wando County."
Shin concluded, "Respecting the will of the people of Gogum-myeon, I humbly bow to the greater cause and have decided not to run," and added, "I hope the two remaining candidates will unite and rally the support of Gogum-myeon residents to secure victory in the election."
Meanwhile, after retiring as Director of the Wando County Social Community Support Center at the end of last year, Shin had been preparing to run for Wando County Governor.
