Through Systematic Planning for Obesity Prevention Practices
At the 2nd plenary session of the 291st extraordinary meeting of the Gumi City Council in North Gyeongsang Province, the partial amendment to the "Ordinance on the Practice and Support for Obesity Prevention in Gumi City," proposed by Councilor Kim Younggil (Sandong, Jangcheon, Haepyeong), was passed.
This amendment was promoted to establish the legal basis for formulating an obesity prevention action plan in order to enhance the healthy lives of Gumi citizens and prevent various chronic diseases caused by obesity. It also aims to clarify the terminology used in the ordinance.

The main changes include clarifying the definitions related to obesity prevention in Article 2 to ensure administrative consistency, and specifying the establishment and implementation system of the obesity prevention action plan in Article 6 to lay the foundation for effective community health policy in the region.
Councilor Kim Younggil stated, "Obesity is not simply an individual issue but a community health indicator directly linked to the quality of life of citizens," adding, "With this amendment, Gumi City has established an institutional framework to implement a more systematic obesity prevention action plan. We will continue to strengthen local health policies so that all citizens can enjoy healthy and energetic lives."
