6 Out of 10 Innobiz Companies "Utilize AI"... Skilled Workforce and Costs Remain Major Obstacles

"AI Utilization Status Survey" Results Announced

It has been confirmed that 6 out of 10 Innobiz companies are currently utilizing artificial intelligence (AI). However, a lack of skilled professionals and the burden of implementation costs have been identified as major obstacles in the process of adopting AI.

The Korea Association of Innovative Businesses (Innobiz Association) announced the results of its "AI Utilization Status Survey" on October 26, 2025.

The survey was conducted online from August 18 to September 12, targeting 23,206 Innobiz companies nationwide. Among the 540 companies that responded, 67.2% are currently using AI, while 32.8% are either considering adoption or have not yet implemented it.

Companies utilizing AI cited the following as their main fields of application: data analysis and visualization (64.8%), document summarization and correction (63.3%), conversational chatbots (46.1%), and manufacturing process automation (31.1%). The analysis indicates that AI utilization is spreading from simple administrative support to on-site innovation.

However, more than half of the responding companies reported difficulties in adopting AI. The main barriers were identified as a shortage of skilled professionals (62.8%) and the burden of implementation costs (62.6%).

Nevertheless, 60.7% of the respondents expressed their intention to further increase AI utilization in the future. The government policies they hope for include support for research and development (R&D) and infrastructure construction (59.6%), AI utilization consulting and education (57.4%), and training of AI specialists (50.6%).

Based on the results of this survey, the Innobiz Association plans to implement a step-by-step "AI Transformation Leading Strategy," which includes establishing an AI alliance for small and medium-sized enterprises, training practical AI leaders, supporting AI exports in specific vertical fields, and expanding international standard certifications. In addition, the association will strengthen its connection with the government's digital transformation policies for SMEs to develop practical on-site support measures.
