Pocheon City: Apply for a Refund If You Disposed of Your Vehicle in September After Prepaying Automobile Tax

Pocheon City to Refund Approximately 17 Million Won in Automobile Taxes
for Vehicles Transferred or Scrapped in September

Pocheon City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Younghyeon) will provide automobile tax refunds to citizens who prepaid their 2025 automobile taxes and subsequently transferred, scrapped, or deregistered their vehicles in September.

The automobile tax prepayment system allows taxpayers to receive a discount by paying a full year’s tax in advance. However, if the vehicle is transferred, scrapped, or deregistered after prepayment, the taxpayer is eligible for a refund of the tax corresponding to the remaining period.

This round of refunds covers a total of 719 cases, amounting to approximately 17 million won. To expedite the refund process, the city will send individual notifications to eligible recipients and support refund applications through phone, Wetax, and the Pocheon City KakaoTalk channel (Pocheon City Local Tax Refund), among other methods.

A city official stated, "We are actively guiding taxpayers through the tax refund process to protect their rights and enhance convenience," adding, "We will continue to expand tax administration services that citizens can truly experience."

In addition to this refund initiative, Pocheon City plans to further strengthen its taxpayer-oriented tax administration, including increased promotion of the automobile tax prepayment system.
