Soongsil University Student Changsuu Choi Receives Gold Collar Engineering Student Award

Outstanding Engineering Student Selected by the Korean Society for Engineering Education

Soongsil University announced on October 24 that Changsuu Choi, a senior in the Department of Software, received the 23rd Gold Collar Engineering Student Award at the 2025 Engineering Education Conference and General Assembly.

The term "Gold Collar" refers to a new type of engineer required in a knowledge-based society-talents who possess not only technical expertise, but also social responsibility, collaboration and communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and international cooperation capabilities. This concept stands in contrast to the traditional notion of "blue collar" labor.

The Korean Society for Engineering Education presents the Gold Collar Engineering Student Award to discover and support engineering students with Gold Collar capabilities. The aim is to promote the social value of engineering and enhance national competitiveness.

Changsuu Choi expressed his gratitude, stating, "It is an honor to receive the Gold Collar Engineering Student Award. I will continue to learn and grow with humility."
