Heungkuk Life Insurance announced on the 24th that it conducted "Voice Phishing Prevention Education" for local residents and approximately 100 seniors aged 65 and older at the Seoul Metropolitan Mapo Senior Welfare Center over two days, on the 16th and 23rd.
This educational program was organized to respond to the increasingly sophisticated and advanced methods of voice phishing. The training shared real-life cases of major types, including: ▲ cases where callers demand personal appearance, ▲ impersonation of institutions, ▲ impersonation of acquaintances, and ▲ impersonation related to parcel delivery and payments. It also provided detailed guidelines on how to respond to prevent victimization.

The instructor who led the session stated, "If you are asked to install an application for any reason, you should suspect phishing 100% of the time." He continued, "If you receive contact from someone claiming to be from a financial or government institution, always verify through an official number and only install applications from official app stores." He further advised, "If you receive a message impersonating an acquaintance, confirm the facts directly by phone, and in case of damage, immediately report to the bank and the police to request a payment suspension."
A representative from Heungkuk Life Insurance said, "Voice phishing is a social problem that is spreading especially among the elderly," and added, "We will expand preventive activities to protect financially vulnerable groups and help ensure our customers' financial safety."
Meanwhile, Heungkuk Life Insurance continues to provide financial fraud prevention education in cooperation with welfare centers nationwide every year. Last year, the company conducted voice phishing prevention and financial literacy education for about 400 seniors at the Seodaemun Senior Welfare Center and Dongdaemun Senior Welfare Center in Seoul, striving to raise awareness on how to respond to financial fraud in daily life.
