Hanwha Asset Management Wins Minister of Employment and Labor Award at 2025 K-ESG Management Awards

Hanwha Asset Management announced on the 24th that it had received the Minister of Employment and Labor Award at the 2025 K-ESG Management Awards.

The K-ESG Management Awards are presented to companies and institutions that have demonstrated exemplary ESG management by excelling in environmental management (E), creating social value (S), and ensuring sound governance (G), thereby enhancing corporate value and contributing to the spread of an innovative and sustainable management culture. Hanwha Asset Management was recognized for its efforts to strengthen communication with a diverse range of global stakeholders, including employees, clients, and local communities, and for its leadership in ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management.

As a fiduciary responsible for managing clients' assets, Hanwha Asset Management has been at the forefront of responsible investment. Since 2020, it has actively engaged in shareholder activities (Engagement) as part of its fiduciary duty initiatives.

In the second half of last year, the company sent shareholder letters to major companies addressing a variety of ESG themes, including not only social (S) issues such as industrial safety, serious accidents, and information security, but also climate change, natural capital, circular economy, AI (artificial intelligence) ethics, corporate ethics (such as embezzlement and breach of trust), and corporate value (value-up disclosures).

Since 2021, Hanwha Asset Management has published an annual "Responsible Investment Report" to inform investors about the status of its responsible investment activities. This year, reflecting the trend of strengthened stewardship code (fiduciary duty principles) compliance reviews both domestically and internationally, the company became the first in the domestic private asset management industry to publish an English version of its Responsible Investment Report.

At the end of last year, Hanwha Asset Management established the goal of becoming "Korea's leading global asset management company" as its company-wide management objective, and has since been pursuing key initiatives such as generating alpha for clients, advancing investment and work processes, developing and strengthening talent, and improving organizational culture.

The company is comprehensively upgrading its artificial intelligence (AI) data infrastructure. By introducing company-wide AI office systems, it supports faster and more accurate decision-making. In addition, it has enhanced employee capabilities through various themed online courses, leadership and promotion training, and workshops. Hanwha Asset Management also operates active performance-based reward systems, such as long-term service awards and incentive programs based on achievements, to further improve employee satisfaction.

Furthermore, Hanwha Asset Management has contributed to the development of the financial industry and employment stability by creating jobs focused on ESG and new growth businesses. Through recruitment-linked internships, it has established a virtuous cycle for youth employment, and by expanding responsible investment products and discovering new investment strategies in alternative sectors, it has created additional jobs. In this way, the company is responding to national employment policies by expanding new employment opportunities, nurturing young talent, and recruiting professionals.

Additionally, Hanwha Asset Management has established the "Bright World Fund," an employee fund that supports a variety of social value initiatives, including financial education for children in protective facilities, financial education and support grants for self-reliant youth, cleaning volunteer work at group homes for people with disabilities, and in-house charity bazaars.

Kim Joungho, CEO of Hanwha Asset Management, stated, "We have focused on internalizing ESG not as a temporary trend but as an investment philosophy by developing an ESG evaluation model for the first time among domestic asset management companies, as a methodology tailored to the asset management industry."

He added, "We are proud to be contributing to the spread of a responsible investment culture in the asset management industry through a variety of initiatives, and we will continue to strengthen our ESG global competitiveness as Korea's leading global asset management company."
