Park Beomin: "Comprehensive Shopping Town Featuring Geumsan Ginseng to Open in New York"
Geumsan County has designated October 23 as "Geumsan Ginseng Day" each year and held a grand commemorative event at the Geumsan Sports Complex on October 23 to celebrate the occasion.
Approximately 2,000 people, including Park Beomin, County Governor of Geumsan, Kim Kiyun, Chairman of the Geumsan County Council, and other distinguished guests, attended the event to celebrate "Geumsan Ginseng Day."
This event was organized because Geumsan County designated October 23 as "Geumsan Ginseng Day" earlier this year to elevate the global status of Geumsan ginseng. In addition, the State of California in the United States has also designated October 23 as Korean Ginseng Day each year, and the event was held to commemorate this occasion.
The commemorative ceremony began at 6:40 p.m. at the Geumsan Sports Complex, starting with a pre-event program, followed by introductions of guests, an opening address, a progress report, congratulatory speeches, and performances. Popular singers such as Park Seojin, Kim Euyeong, Kang Yesle, Kwak Yeonggwang, Cho Seunggu, and Jo Eunha gave spectacular celebratory performances, with comedian Lee Changmyeong serving as the host.
Park Beomin, County Governor of Geumsan, stated, "The legislature of California, the largest state in the United States, has resolved to designate October 23 as Korean Ginseng Day every year," and emphasized, "As the birthplace of Korean ginseng, which is the greatest health gift that heaven has bestowed upon humanity, Geumsan can proudly call itself the ginseng capital leading the development of the global ginseng industry."
He added, "In about six months, a comprehensive shopping town in New York, featuring restaurants, bakeries, cafes, beauty shops, and ginseng products all centered around Geumsan ginseng, will open to the public."
He further appealed, "I sincerely ask everyone to join forces so that Geumsan can become a land of life that enhances human health through ginseng."
Kim Kiyun, Chairman of the Geumsan County Council, said, "I applaud County Governor Park Beomin for his efforts to expand ginseng exports worldwide," and emphasized, "I hope we can work together to usher in a new golden era for Geumsan ginseng."
He continued, "We should not keep such a great thing to ourselves, but spread the word far and wide. With the establishment of Korean Ginseng Day, I hope we can widely promote the excellence of Geumsan ginseng and make this day a turning point to once again lead the development of the ginseng industry."
Hwang Myungseon, a member of the National Assembly (Democratic Party, representing Nonsan, Gyeryong, and Geumsan), was unable to attend due to the National Assembly audit schedule but sent a congratulatory message.
Hwang Myungseon stated, "Geumsan ginseng is a proud agricultural product with hundreds of years of tradition, a leading brand of Korea, and global recognition. Thanks to the sweat and dedication of our farmers, Geumsan ginseng has shone not only in Korea but also on the world stage."
He added, "I will also do my utmost in the National Assembly to ensure that Geumsan ginseng receives fair value in a just distribution environment and to support the ginseng industry through legislation and policy so that it can develop into a high value-added industry with future competitiveness."
