The Gumi Agricultural Products Wholesale Market (with a site area of 83,049 square meters and a total floor area of 25,111.91 square meters) consists of a total of seven buildings, including the fruit and vegetable buildings, two vegetable buildings, and an administration building. Opened in April 2001, this sales facility holds auctions every day at 8 a.m., except on closed days such as Sundays.

This on-site visit was conducted to hear the current status of the wholesale market and to inspect the site of the vegetable building modernization project within the market.

The committee members listened to a report on the operation of the wholesale market facilities and received an explanation about the 'Vegetable Building Modernization' project, which is currently in the detailed design phase, while discussing future use of the facilities.

The 'Vegetable Building Modernization' project aims to improve the aging internal facilities of two of the seven buildings in the agricultural products wholesale market that are designated as vegetable buildings.

Kim Nakgwan, Chairperson of the Industry and Construction Committee, stated, "The agricultural products wholesale market is a crucial space directly linked to the income of local farmers and the food safety of citizens, so it is necessary to create a safe and efficient distribution environment." He added, "While I acknowledge the need to promote the modernization project due to aging facilities, I urge the relevant departments to thoroughly plan in advance to prevent waste of budget, carefully check for unnecessary elements, and strive to achieve the project's objectives with the minimum budget required, thereby alleviating inconvenience for citizens."
