Pharmicell, a leading stem cell therapy company, announced on October 23 that it sponsored the 2nd Ma Jonggi Literary Award ceremony, established by the Yonsei University College of Medicine Alumni Association.
The award ceremony was held on October 22 at the Yonsei University Main Hall, where poet Shim Boseon was honored as the recipient.
The Ma Jonggi Literary Award was established in 2023 to commemorate the achievements of Dr. Ma Jonggi, a physician and poet, and to foster a warm medical culture through the convergence of medicine and literature. Pharmicell continued its sponsorship this year following the inaugural event last year, consistently supporting this meaningful occasion where literature and medicine come together.
Since his debut in 1994, awardee Shim Boseon has established a unique poetic world through collections such as "Fifteen Seconds Without Sorrow" and "A Person Not Before My Eyes."
The panel of judges explained their decision by stating, "The poet has honed uncompromising poetic language directed at both reality and the inner self," and added, "He possesses a warm sense of solidarity with marginalized others and a keen awareness of contemporary realities."
A Pharmicell representative stated, "As a company dealing with life, we aim to continuously contribute to fostering a medical culture that values deep understanding and empathy for humanity."
