World's Largest Treasure Hunt Festival to Be Held at Old Gyeonggi Provincial Government Building on November 1

Gyeonggi Province will host the unique treasure hunt festival, the "2025 Real Treasure Festival," at the old Gyeonggi Provincial Government Building on November 1.

The Real Treasure Festival is an immersive treasure hunt event where participants use their smartphones and mission maps to explore the area around the old Gyeonggi Provincial Government Building in Paldal-gu, Suwon. Through this exploration, they experience a variety of themes, including the history of the provincial government, social innovation, and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance).

The inaugural event in 2023 attracted 3,040 participants and was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the "treasure hunt event with the most simultaneous participants." Last year, more than 8,000 people took part.

This year's festival will be held in conjunction with the opening of "Follow," Gyeonggi Province's social innovation space.

Follow is a citizen-participatory social innovation hub created by remodeling the old Gyeonggi Provincial Government Building's Annex 2. It serves as an open platform where various innovation actors-including those in the social economy, youth entrepreneurship, and ESG practices-collaborate.

The festival is designed so that residents can directly participate in missions and naturally experience the values of social innovation, such as participation, cooperation, and ESG. In addition, in collaboration with the local merchants' association near the old government building, the festival will feature merchant booths within the event venue and offer discount events linked to nearby shops, presenting a model for mutual growth with the local economy.

The event will kick off at 1:30 p.m. with celebratory performances by invited singer Park T.T. and the Gyeonggi Opportunity Income Artist Team Kim Kyungmin Duo, followed by an opening declaration. Afterward, a variety of themed treasure hunt missions-such as "Codename: H," "Spy Hunter," "Alien Capture Operation," and "Mystery Theme Park"-will take place. Participants who complete all missions will receive commemorative gifts and have a chance to win prizes through a raffle.

On-site, there will be a wide range of experience-based content for residents to enjoy, including social economy exhibition and experience booths, policy promotion booths, a 119 Smart Safety Experience Center, a dress code event with a secret agent theme, and food trucks.

Gong Jeongsik, Director-General of Social Innovation and Economy for Gyeonggi Province, stated, "This festival is an opportunity for residents to experience the meaning of social innovation together and to discover new value in the old provincial government building. With the opening of the social innovation space Follow, we will further develop this into a resident-led festival for mutual growth in collaboration with the local business community."
