City Bus Collides with Kindergarten Shuttle
Accident Likely Caused by Skidding on Wet Road
On October 22, at an intersection in Ok-dong, Nam-gu, Ulsan, a city bus collided with a kindergarten shuttle vehicle that was waiting at a traffic signal.
The accident occurred at around 9:46 a.m., during commuting hours, on a rainy road. The city bus, driven by a man in his 70s, skidded on the wet road and struck the kindergarten vehicle, which was stopped at the signal. There were two adults and eight children on board the kindergarten vehicle.
The fire department dispatched 22 personnel and 7 pieces of equipment to carry out the rescue operation. Of the 11 people injured, 9 sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital, while the remaining 2 received emergency treatment at the scene. The drivers were not seriously injured and either visited the hospital on their own or returned home.
The police believe the accident was caused by the city bus skidding on the wet road and are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident by questioning the bus driver.
