Of the donated amount, 100 million won will be used for the “Dream Job University Student Scholarship” program, which was newly launched this year. This scholarship is being provided as youth unemployment becomes a social issue, and will be awarded to 100 university students to support their job search efforts.
Chairman Park Jangseon stated, “I hope that the young people of Jung-gu will not have to give up on their dreams due to financial difficulties,” adding, “I will continue to do my best to ensure the foundation remains a strong stepping stone of hope for both youth and university students.”
Since being inaugurated as chairman of the foundation in June 2023, Chairman Park has consistently donated scholarships every year. He donated 100 million won each in 2023 and last year, and 200 million won this year, bringing his total contributions to 400 million won so far. He is also expanding the foundation’s scholarship programs and promoting various initiatives for young people. These include the “Dream Job University Student Scholarship,” the “Seoul National University Mentoring Scholarship Program,” and “Challenge! Global Exploration Team,” all of which actively support youth career exploration and the strengthening of global competencies.
Mayor Kim Gilsung of Jung-gu commented, “Scholarships are not merely financial support, but certificates of hope that plant dreams in the hearts of young people,” and added, “A scholarship can be the starting point that changes someone’s life.” He further expressed hope that the scholarship foundation will become the foundation for nurturing the talent that will lead Jung-gu into the future.
Chairman Park, who built his own success in Chungmuro, has worked in the printing and cultural industry for 38 years and has grown Today Art into a strong mid-sized company with annual sales of 130 billion won. He currently serves as the president of the Korea Printing Cooperative Federation and was appointed vice president of the Korea Federation of SMEs last month.
Meanwhile, since its establishment in 2012, the Seoul Jung-gu Talent Development Scholarship Foundation has provided scholarships to more than 970 students. In the first half of this year, it supported 89 elementary, middle, and high school students with a total of 67.2 million won, and plans to select an additional 89 regular scholarship recipients in the second half, awarding 67.5 million won. The foundation has also launched new programs such as the “Global Multicultural and Foreigner Scholarship” and the “Outstanding Academic Achievement Scholarship for Students Outside the District,” and is fostering the overseas cultural experience program “Challenge! Global Exploration Team” as a flagship initiative to support the dreams of even more young people.
