Jung Ki-sun, chairman of HD Hyundai, began his "communication-oriented management" by having lunch with employees on his very first day in office.


According to HD Hyundai’s social media on October 21, Chairman Jung had lunch with employees at the cafeteria of the HD Hyundai Global Research & Development Center (GRC) in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, on his first day as chairman, October 20. On this day, Chairman Jung personally received noodles from the lunch menu and dined together with the staff. After the meal, he sat around the table with employees, engaged in free conversation, and took selfies.

Previously, in his inaugural email to executives and employees, Chairman Jung also emphasized "communication" as a core value of management. He stated, "I will meet, listen to, and communicate with you anytime and anywhere," and added, "I will hear the voices from the field directly and work together to ensure that employees have a satisfying work life."


Chairman Jung is the eldest son of Chung Mong-joon, chairman of the Asan Foundation, and a third-generation member of the Hyundai family. He was promoted from senior vice chairman to chairman on October 17. With this promotion, HD Hyundai has returned to an "owner management" system for the first time in 30 years.


Meanwhile, Chairman Jung is scheduled to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit Forum in Lima, Peru, on October 27, marking his first official appearance since taking office as chairman.
