Opticore, a company specializing in optical communication solutions (CEO Moon Yooseok), announced on October 21 that it will jointly carry out a government-supported national project, "Export-Oriented AI Data Infrastructure Development," with Korea Livestock Data (CEO Kyung Nogyeom), a company specializing in AI-based livestock healthcare solutions, under the support of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
The goal of this project is to develop a Korean-style AI data center infrastructure, specialized for AI learning and industrial data services, as an exportable package model. The two companies will jointly promote a "Data Sovereignty Infrastructure" model that combines AI infrastructure and industrial data.
The core elements of the project include: ▲ Establishing a global data bank network ▲ Reducing design costs by 20% and minimizing power consumption ▲ Standardizing eco-friendly, low-power AI data center designs ▲ Commercializing products linked to renewable energy. The focus is on enhancing the export competitiveness of Korean-style AI data centers.
Opticore will be responsible for designing the core modules of AI data centers and optimizing their operation in this project. Based on its core optical communication technologies, the company plans to lead the advancement and commercialization of AI data centers. Following a recent large-scale optical transceiver supply contract worth 6.6 billion won, Opticore aims to diversify its portfolio through this project by developing 800Gbps-class optical transceivers and data center switches, with a strategy to target the global market based on both 5G communications and AI data centers.
Korea Livestock Data will handle the large-scale industrial data and AI application technologies it has accumulated in the smart livestock sector. By combining livestock AI technology and data center infrastructure, the company plans to introduce a new industrial AI model and build an exportable AI infrastructure ecosystem while maintaining national data sovereignty. Korea Livestock Data previously demonstrated its technological capabilities by reducing operating costs and improving data processing efficiency through a jointly built AI modular green data center with global IT company Dell, and has proven its technology in local pilot projects in India, Malaysia, and the United Kingdom.
The two companies plan to begin developing core AI data center modules in the second half of this year and complete domestic demonstration tests and overseas pilot deployments by the first half of 2026. Afterward, they intend to gradually export customized AI data infrastructure package models tailored to the industrial environments and demands of each country. In particular, they plan to provide AI infrastructure that takes into account both national data sovereignty and energy efficiency, applying optimized data operation structures for major livestock export countries in Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
An Opticore official stated, "Through power efficiency, computing optimization, and modular design technologies, which are key to AI data centers, we will demonstrate the global competitiveness of Korean-style AI infrastructure and establish an export standard model for eco-friendly AI data centers."
