Gumi to Host National Park Golf Finals: MVP to Receive 30 Million Won

Finals of the 4th Gumi Cup National Park Golf Tournament to Be Held
2,912 Participants from 16 Cities and Provinces Nationwide
Total Prize Pool of 55 Million Won
Finals to Take Place from October 24 to 25

Gumi City in North Gyeongsang Province will host the finals of the 4th Gumi Cup National Park Golf Tournament at Dongnak Park Golf Course over two days, from October 24 to 25.


The opening ceremony will take place at 11:30 a.m. on the 24th. Hosted by the Gumi City Sports Council and organized by the Gumi City Park Golf Association, this tournament marks its fourth year and is one of the premier events of its kind in Korea.


From September 5 to September 27, preliminary rounds were held every Friday and Saturday at six venues: Dongnak, Yangpo, Gumi, Seonsan, Haepyeong, and Dogae. A total of 2,912 players from 16 cities and provinces across the country participated.


The 632 finalists who emerged from the intense preliminary rounds will compete for the championship at Dongnak Park Golf Course, the nation's first officially certified park golf venue.

The total prize pool for the tournament is 55 million won, with 30 million won awarded to the MVP, 5 million won to the first-place winner, and 3 million won to the runner-up. Prizes will be awarded to the top 10 finishers.


In particular, as a new feature compared to last year, special prizes of 100,000 won each will be awarded to the players who place 20th, 30th, 50th, 70th, and 90th among both men and women, further boosting participants' motivation.


Gumi Mayor Kim Jangho stated, "I hope this tournament will further solidify its brand as a leading national park golf event, building on Gumi City's infrastructure of nine courses and 288 holes. In line with the government's emphasis on 'an era of 100-year lifespans and the promotion of sports for all,' Gumi City will continue to host vibrant sporting events that all citizens, including the growing senior population, can enjoy."
