"October 15 Real Estate Measures Are the Worst Policy, Destroying the Housing Ladder"
First Meeting to Be Held on the 22nd... "We Will Propose Policy Alternatives the Public Wants"
On October 21, the People Power Party established the Special Committee for the Normalization of Real Estate Policy. Party leader Jang Donghyuk will personally serve as the committee chair. With local elections approaching next year, the party appears to be focusing its efforts on criticizing the real estate measures of the Lee Jaemyung administration.

Chief Spokesperson Choi Boyun met with reporters after a closed Supreme Council meeting that day and stated, "The October 15 real estate measures are extremely strong demand-suppression policies that make it harder to purchase homes, destroying the housing ladder for the middle class and young people striving to own a home. This is the worst possible policy." She added, "We formed this special committee to actively respond to the anti-market and abnormal measures of the Lee Jaemyung administration and to propose policy alternatives that the public wants."
Regarding the change in the special committee chair from Park Daecheol, a four-term lawmaker and former Policy Committee Chair, to Jang Donghyuk, she explained, "Please see this as a demonstration of our determination to vigorously address real estate policy issues."
Kim Doeup, the current Policy Committee Chair, will serve as vice chair of the special committee. The committee members include lawmakers Cho Eunhee, Kwon Youngjin, Park Sooyoung, Kang Minkook, Kim Eunhye, and Cho Jeonghun, as well as Professor Shim Gyoeon from the Department of Real Estate Studies at Konkuk University.
The special committee plans to hold an appointment ceremony and its first meeting on October 22. It also intends to organize on-site meetings in the Seoul metropolitan area.
Chief Spokesperson Choi also highlighted the differences with the Democratic Party's real estate special committee, stating, "The Democratic Party and the Lee Jaemyung administration continue to be out of sync," and added, "Rather than short-term, hasty policies, we will pursue real estate policies that consider the entire public, encompassing both the Seoul metropolitan area and all of South Korea."
