[Market Focus] Korea Electric Power Technology Surges on Hopes of Benefiting from Global Nuclear Expansion

Korea Electric Power Technology is showing strong performance in early trading.

As of 9:06 a.m. on October 21, 2025, Korea Electric Power Technology was trading at 105,200 won, up 9.36% (9,000 won) from the previous day.

The company is considered a beneficiary of the global expansion of nuclear power plant orders and the growth of the U.S. nuclear power market, which appears to have boosted investor sentiment.

Lee Sangheon, a researcher at iM Securities, said, "With Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power signing the main contract for the construction of Units 5 and 6 at the Dukovany nuclear power plant in the Czech Republic, Korea Electric Power Technology is expected to secure orders worth between 1.5 trillion and 2 trillion won. In addition, the possibility of expanding exports to the Middle East, including the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, is increasing, which could lead to a re-rating of the company's valuation."

If South Korea and the United States announce an agreement to expand South Korea's uranium enrichment and reprocessing rights during a bilateral summit held on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Gyeongju, it would be seen as a positive development for Korea Electric Power Technology, which is pursuing the development of a fourth-generation sodium-cooled fast reactor (SFR). It is also good news that the Donald Trump administration in the United States is pursuing the construction of 10 large-scale nuclear power plants by 2030 in order to expand nuclear power capacity from the current 100GW to 400GW by 2050.

Korea Electric Power Technology's consolidated sales for the third quarter of this year are projected to reach 112.8 billion won (up 7% year-on-year), with operating profit expected to be 7.9 billion won (up 13%), in line with market expectations.
