"Golf Gathering" Held at Mar-a-Lago on the 18th
Chung Euisun, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, met with former U.S. President Donald Trump at a "golf gathering" on the 18th and conveyed, "Everyone has high expectations for President Trump's visit to Korea," adding, "We are all working together to prepare for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit."
According to industry sources on the 20th, Chairman Chung met with President Trump after a round of golf at an event held near the Mar-a-Lago Resort in the United States on the 18th, where they discussed the upcoming APEC summit and local investment.
Although Chairman Chung was not in the same group as President Trump during the golf event, it is reported that they had a conversation after the game.
The event was hosted by Masayoshi Son, Chairman of SoftBank in Japan, and invited business leaders from Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and other countries to play golf in groups of four. Each group consisted of one U.S. government official, one professional golfer, and two business leaders. President Trump was reportedly grouped with Chairman Son, professional golfer Gary Player, and Bryson DeChambeau.
This marks the first time that the heads of major Korean companies have collectively played golf with prominent figures from the U.S. political and business sectors. Korean business leaders who attended the event included Chairman Chung, Lee Jae-yong of Samsung Electronics, Chey Tae-won of SK Group, Koo Kwang-mo of LG Group, and Kim Dong-kwan, Vice Chairman of Hanwha Group.
