Bank of Korea Governor Rhee Changyong assessed the current won-dollar exchange rate, which stands at around 1,420 won, saying, "I do not consider this a crisis."
Governor Rhee made these remarks during a National Assembly Strategy and Finance Committee audit held at the Bank of Korea headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, on October 20, 2025.
He stated, "A good way to determine whether this is a crisis is to look at how the exchange rate is being evaluated overseas. The current movements reflect various international issues, so I do not view it as a crisis."
Governor Rhee added, "However, we must pay close attention, as the exchange rate can affect inflation and have broader macroeconomic negative impacts."
