Kang Suhyun, mayor of Yangju City, successfully led the "23rd Yangju Citizens' Day Ceremony" and "Citizen Harmony Sports Festival" held at Baekseok Sports Park on the 19th, realizing the core value of "citizen-centeredness" in the 8th popularly elected municipal administration.

The event was attended by more than 1,200 people, including Kang Suhyun, mayor of Yangju City; Jeong Seongho, Minister of Justice and National Assembly member; Kim Sungwon, National Assembly member; Yoon Changcheol, chairman of the city council; current and former provincial and city council members; heads of various organizations and social groups; and Yangju citizens. Under the mayor's administrative philosophy of "Every Citizen is the Main Character," the event featured a diverse range of programs.


The ceremony began with a pre-event performance by the Nam-myeon and Okjeong 1-dong residents' councils, winners of the 2025 Residents' Autonomy Competition, followed by the recitation of the Citizens' Charter, commendations for distinguished citizens, a congratulatory performance by Yangju City Hall staff, congratulatory video messages from the governor and sister cities, a celebratory performance by Yangju City ambassador My Jin, and a group singing of the citizens' song.


The festivities continued with the "Citizen Harmony Sports Festival," featuring activities such as a fun sports day and a singing contest, further heightening the celebratory atmosphere.


Notably, this year's ceremony highlighted its theme of "Every Citizen is the Main Character" by having representatives from exemplary filial families and young entrepreneurs participate in the recitation of the Citizens' Charter, a performance by Public Relations Officer Jin Jumugwan-whose video reached 1.2 million views on the official Yangju City YouTube Shorts-a stage by ambassador My Jin, and a group singing of the citizens' song by children from Yangju Daycare Center.

Kang Suhyun, mayor of Yangju City, stated, "With a population, including registered foreign residents, now exceeding 300,000, Yangju City has continuously improved its living conditions through tangible urban enhancements such as expanding metropolitan road networks, developing industrial complexes, and designating special education zones." She added, "All these changes and developments have been possible thanks to the hard work of our citizens."


She further emphasized, "I will continue to do my utmost to improve the quality of life for our citizens."
