Muan County in South Jeolla Province will host the 3rd Muan Mudflat Octopus Festival for two days, from November 1 to 2, at Muan-eup Mudflat Octopus Street and throughout the Jungang-ro area.

According to the county on October 20, this year’s festival, held under the theme “Gift of the Loess Mudflat! The Delicious Transformation of Muan Octopus,” will feature a wide variety of food and hands-on programs centered around octopus, the region’s signature specialty.

On the first day of the festival, there will be the “Nallinalli” general agricultural and fishing village performance presentation and a residents’ singing contest. On the second day, a Nanta percussion performance will be held, along with lively stages featuring Seo Jio, a singer from Miss Trot, and Park Kyungdeok, a contestant from Mister Trot.

The main stage will host interactive programs such as an on-the-spot octopus catching event for children and an octopus auction. In the experience zone, families can enjoy activities like colorful bubble play and making character pinwheels. The exhibition zone will showcase award-winning works from the Muan Drawing Contest, an octopus life cycle exhibition, and a photo zone to provide additional attractions.

Throughout the Jungang-ro area, street performances such as colorful busking acts and a magic bubble show will take place. Promotional and sales booths for local specialties, including Muan octopus, seaweed, eel, and shrimp, will also be operated.

Kim San, the county governor, stated, “Muan octopus is considered the best health food of the autumn season and is called the ginseng of the mudflat. I hope this festival, filled with seasonal delicacies like gizzard shad and shrimp, will be a special opportunity to fully enjoy the taste and charm of Muan.”
